As you can see, we have removed the "We Reached our Goal" banner. There are some new developments that we need to communicate to our membership.

1st, we have raised $10,000.00 for this project. That is a great number! Congratulations to everyone for digging deep to make this project a reality. Now for the bad news, since we first submitted out application in April of 2007, the cost of the signs and the cost of installation has gone up. What does this mean for us? Well, it means that the City of Germantown had enough money allocated for each neighborhood until the cost went up. They contracted the signs to be manufactured in July of 2008. Last year, the same manufacturer also installed the signs. They lost money on the install and decided this year to NOT bid on the installation of the signs. This meant that the City had to bid out the installation of the signs. In July when it was put out to bid, NO ONE BIDDED on the project. Then in sat on the docket for a few months before they sent it out for bid again. The new bids were submitted in October of 2008 and the cost of installation was WAY higher than last year.

Now that the bids are in, the cost to the city is so much higher, that they now cannot provide signs for every neighborhood that was in line to get them this fiscal year. Unfortunately this means Germantown Trails. Our best chance at getting Decorative Wrought Iron Street Signs this year is if the City tells one of the other associations that they are next and they don't have the money to do it. Then the next Association in line is then asked. Currently, three neighborhood associations would have to "PASS" and then it would be possible that GTNA would get our signs by June of 2009. Currently, we are 3rd on the list for signs in the fiscal year of 2009 - 2010. As more information becomes available I will pass it along to you. More to come.....

Everyone, it is quite possible that we will need more money to reach our goal of getting these signs installed.
